What are RSS feeds? For those that don't know or have never used RSS, it's an acronym for 'Really Simply Syndication'. It's essentially a simple and easy way of providing information to 'subscribers' of a particular 'feed' on a regular basis (usually as it happens) and directly to the end user. What this means for you as a user is that instead of constantly visiting half a dozen web sites to get the latest news from each of them, you just open up a feed 'reader' (like FeedReader) and synchronise with the feeds your subscribed to; the news comes to you rather than you going to it!. Very handy. How do I use RSS?Basically you need to 'subscribe' to a feed. All this usually means is copying a URL address of a feed and pasting that into your feed reader, the application then does the rest, constantly updating at set intervals or whenever the application is started. Is RSS free? The ones from NYArt are, yes. Other sites may charge you for 'premium' content depending on what they offer. RSS feeds from NYArtIf you want a quick and easy way to view certain aspects of content from NYArt then check out the RSS feeds below. These will allow you to read up on the latest items listed in each feed without needing to come directly to the web site. The following feeds are parsed from the same RSS file under the general heading of NYArt RSS feeds so each link is to a parsed 'category'. When you add the links to your reader be sure to title the feed appropriately. In order to read these feeds you'll need to find a 'reader' or 'digester'. If you don't want to scan down or read all of the entries below, there's a neat and simply way to 'search' the information below. First grab this great little application called FeedReader (1.5MB) and install it. Once you've done that click 'file > add feed' and enter one or all of the above URL's. |
